The first rule Meet 5 plants Sit spot
The forager's law
Never put a plant in your mouth without a grown-up The woods are full of food and full of medicine โ and a few plants that will hurt you. Today we learn the rule that keeps every forager safe.
Progress 0 of 4 steps
1 ๐๏ธ Hands, not mouth
We learn plants with our eyes, fingers, and nose first. Tasting is last and only with a grown-up who knows the plant.
2 ๐ Smell test
Crush a leaf gently between your fingers. Does it smell like onion? Like mint? Like nothing? Smells are clues.
3 ๐ Three look-arounds
Look at one leaf, then up at the whole plant, then down at the ground. What grows near it?
4 ๐งบ One basket, one plant
If you collect, keep each kind of plant in its own little bag. That way nothing sneaky gets mixed in.
