Week 2 · Soil & Seed

Seed Packet Pouch

Hand-stitch a labelled muslin seed pouch.

Why cloth seed bags

Plastic traps moisture and rots seeds. Cotton or linen breathes — that's how seed banks have stored grain for 8,000 years.

What's in a sewing kit?

🪡

Needle

carries thread through fabric

🧵

Thread

holds two pieces together

✂️

Fabric scissors

cuts cloth only — never paper!

📏

Tape measure

checks how long things should be

🪡

Pincushion

keeps sharp pins safe

🧷

Thimble

protects your finger from the needle

Rule of the kit

Fabric scissors only cut fabric. Paper makes them dull and they'll never cut cloth cleanly again. Mark them so no one else uses them!
